About Us

Lending a hand to vulnerable women & children

Ibwe Imbokodo Women’s Trust is a Non Governmental Organization that has a heart for marginalized women and children who have been victims of abuse. Our mission is to act as the information and legal mouthpiece of these aforementioned groups in emerging as survivors and to promote their rights. We help women and children in the fight against any form of victimization including segregation, Gender-Based Violence, sexual abuse, early marriages and other social misnomer practices.

Our Name

“Ibwe” in the Shona language translates to “the rock”. “Imbokodo” means the same in isiNdebele and Zulu. The use of both names is for inclusion, as we strive to assist women from different backgrounds. Our logo is that of three balancing rocks, in the shape of a woman. This represents the strength and resilience of a woman, how they face many challenges in society and still have to handle and balance daily pressures, in their homes, families and place of work.

Vision & Mission

Ibwe Imbokodo Women’s Trust was established to prevent and eradicate abuse and victimization against women. We pursue this goal by empowering women with development skills including anti-GBV awareness and self-reliance entrepreneurship. We also strive to further empower women to defend themselves against abuse and equip them through legal advice and advocacy. Our holistic approach to helping survivors of abuse includes providing psychological support.
